Elaine Chao was sworn in as a member of President Trump’s cabinet #OnThisDay, January 31, 2017.  As U.S. Secretary of Transportation she is responsible for the nation’s transportation policy, including managing its road and airport systems. She served as U.S. Secretary of Labor from 2001-January 2009, and is the first Asian-American woman to be appointed to the President’s Cabinet in American history.
