International State-Tax Conference Mongolia

Tony Greco represents the IPA at the AOTCA conference in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The IPA is a member of the Asia Oceania Tax Consultants’ Association (AOTCA).

It is important that we consider the importance of tax from an international perspective.

We are now accustomed to hearing that welive in a global village and, as a result, tax is becoming increasingly internationalised.

Our participation in AOTCA provides the IPA with the opportunity to ensure that the interests of Australia’s tax professionare represented on an international stage.

In September, Tony Greco represented the IPAat the AOTCA conference in Mongolia, where he participated in the tax conference program and presented a paper titled Australian perspective-General Anti Avoidance Provisions. The theme of the conference focused on how countriesin the Asia Oceania region address tax avoidance.

The conference provided insights on the different approaches each country has in place to deal with aggressive tax planning and tax payer rights to defend themselves against their respective revenue authority.
