Mall has become a big business. In the central of metropolis, there are wide spread shopping malls providing daily necessities. In weekends and public holidays, millions ofpeople are crowded into the malls. Because of the proliferation of big shoppingmalls, some people hold the opinion that small stores are no longer needed and should be totally replaced by large shopping malls. From my point of view,while shopping malls provide convenience for people in big cities, small stores are still essential in rural areas.

Admittedly, shopping malls, a collection of retail stores and restaurants, provide endless convenience for normal people. For example, big shopping centers, like Chadstone shopping center, as they have evolved into multi-stored structure housing a large number of stores that sell diverse products and service, people can achieve one-stop purchase, which extremely save their time. Moreover,compared with small stores, it is more possible for individuals to purchase cheaper products in shopping malls. Because shop owners often have high demands of products, it is easier for them to enjoy reasonable prices from suppliers.

However, things are quite different in rural areas where small shops still play a predominant role. For instance, in a remote areas with limited demands for goods, it is no doubt that building a shopping mall is actually a waste money. In this circumstance, small stores, which can satisfy local residence’s daily necessities,may be a better choice.

In conclusion,large shopping malls do offer efficiency and financial benefits to people in big cities, but in small towns, small stores selling daily necessities are really crucial.
