由于高失败率,近年来澳洲入籍考试备受争议。一项调查显示,在2018年顺利入籍的澳人中,有超1200人曾经历过3次失败。


据《每日邮报》报道,同年在85269名申请人中,有4807人未能通过考试。高失败率加上移民部门批准处理速度慢,令不少人质疑测试系统的有效性

政客Tony Burke和Julian Hill表示,无数生活在澳洲的PR持有者想要表达他们对澳洲的忠诚,结果却因为一个部门的“黑洞”被搁置了。

审计报告显示,在过去4年里,等待入籍申请获批的人数猛增771%,截至2018年6月30日,共有244765人还在等待结果。此外,澳洲政府还计划出台新的立法,如果申请者3次考不过,那么两年内都不得参加入籍考试。

澳洲民族社区联合会(Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia )代理首席执行官Mohammad Al-Khafajj认为,入籍测试并不能衡量申请者对澳洲的忠诚度。
