“与寂静相会，并接受随之而来的神秘”

艺术创作是与精神层面产生共鸣的过程，而并不是对智力水平的考察。

ALEX & JOHN GAILLA

瑞士出生的双胞胎艺术家Alex&John Gailla在固定合作之前曾分别对雕料这一材质进行过研究。他们在创作自述中用意大利艺术家帕尔米贾尼的名言：“与寂静相会，并接受随之而来的神秘”诠释艺术理想，认为大多数好的艺术作品都是寂静的一种。如今擅长用尼龙和金属丝进行艺术实践的Dailla兄弟对作品情感的专注远远超过其讨论的晦涩主题。用他们自己的话说，艺术创作是与精神层面产生共鸣的过程，而并不是对智力水平的考察。

他们的作品在广义的层面上是讨论隐藏的身体结构和机理的。有时也会借助想象，去尝试一些独特的构造，尼龙和金属丝能完美的糅合在这些幻觉中。

雕塑是时间的一种状态，结构之下埋着主题，这些主题又通常与作品本身的具体形象保持着距离。在作品中大量使用明艳红色的Gailla兄弟认为每种颜色都有其特殊意义。在大部分以红色为主导的作品中，他们通常用主色来勾勒轮廓、褶皱和纹理，象征着个体的记忆。

在Deer Hanging 和Study No1 Organic Body中，红色代表着血肉，因为人身体皮肤下面一毫米处，都流淌着这个颜色，用红色去讨论的其实是肉体的可能性问题。

BIO（履历）

Alexandre & John Gailla were born in Switzerland in 1972. Both self-taught, they work and live in Berlin since 2005 and earlier in Switzerland between 2001 and 2004, also New York from 1998 to 2000 (working together with Nancy Rudolph - Hamilton - Swatch Group). Following courses at the San Francisco University, they studied at the International Photography Center in New York for one year.

WORK (BRIEF OUTLINE)

Alexandre and John Gailla have first gone through phases of plastic differentiation to achieve a common pace.

Favouring emotion over adversity, their work is based on an art of balance which acts more on the psyche rather than an intellectual reflection. The Gailla brothers like to quote the Italian artist Parmiggiani who interprets his work as : “An initiation to silence, accepting the mystery that goes with it”.

SCULPTURES

The sculptures of A.J. Gailla are sketches in iron wire and nylon threads taking different expressions. Their red outlines are surfaces, folds, traces of the individual’s memory. The body is so much a sculptural motif as a privileged subject of certain paintings.

PAINTINGS

The paintings lie on the line between photo reproductions, photography andpainting. The subject disappears under the scratches, gets obliterated leaving just a trace which blurs the perception of the motif. The lost subject appears again binding itself to the remaining space, imposing some distance, a time ofposture between the spectator and the painting.
