Job Purpose

The role will work with the National Sales Manager and the Showroom Manager to identify and build Chinese business. Specifically; this will include strategic planning to achieve set targets of Chinese business - this would be incremental business that is created, developed, nurtured, and grown.


Measures of success would be via a personal sales target, as well as the achievement of targets on a wider basis, as the role will be responsible for targets set for other team members in the showroom to achieve.


The role will also be required to coach, train (to include the process and management of the Chinese Tour Guides)and supervision of the Chinese culture team.


The Chinese Business Development Manager will work closely with other departments and senior colleagues, to ensure the marketing and delivering of the product, service and experience which in turn will enable us to maximise Chinese business and help support the strategic vision of growth within this area.


The role will be responsible for keeping up to date with current trends within the market place, competitor activity and product in order to maximise business opportunities that will positively impact growth with the Chinese business.





Experience

·High level of proficiency in both Mandarin and English


·High level of understanding of Chinese culture


·Knowledge of Chinese Tour Guide requirements


·Highly developed communication skills


·Experience in Luxury Retail sector


·Experienced in developing business strategy


·Strong product knowledge


·Experience of working with other key internal and external stakeholders to develop successful marketing campaigns


·Able to demonstrate the ability to coach and supervise


·Able to demonstrate the ability to forecast and analyse sales targets, not just for self but others


·Highly developed commercial skills


·Project management experience




Desirable Experience

·Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Powerpoint


·Strong negotiating and influencing skills


·Experience in controlling satellite business within a large organisation


·Knowledge of all competitor activity, and process & rates etc for Chinese Tour Guides and Business Introducers.


·Level 2 and 3 Patek Philippe trained




Core Accountabilities

The Chinese Business Development Manager will be a constant role model for the Aurum values, ensuring they become a way of working for the whole team giving every customer (internal and external) a ‘World Class Customer Experience’


Their role includes identifying, sharing and spreading best practise throughout their area of responsibility, and demonstrating excellent team work across the Aurum network.


·Responsible for the growth of our Chinese business within Aurum in relation to the specific showroom they are responsible for specifically; in relation to developing sales strategies, new business and contributing to the setting of sales targets.


·Networking the local Chinese community, including liaising with local authorities, organisations, & establishments, that have or work with potential Chinese consumers.


It is essential to build on existing relationships, managing current Chinese Tour Guide accounts, and facilitating all needs.


·Liaising with our Head of Buying & Merchandising with regards to Chinese buying preferences and trends, to ensure we can capitalise on Chinese business by ensuring our product selection and services meet the expectations of our Chinese clients.


·Forecasting and compiling monthly analysis of sales to the Manager, with responsibility for achievement of targets for self and others.


·Reporting [to the Showroom Manager and National Sales Manager on weekly, monthly, & quarterly business reviews with business analysis, feedback, support that can be offered, and support that may be needed, and all with relevant action plans. As well as forecasting forthcoming trading weeks, and months.


·Researching and reviewing the Chinese market, and that of our competitors, to ensure our strategy continues to be fit for purpose.


·Events planning, and events management – which includes managing guestlists, preparing proposals for marketing campaigns and promotional activities; and liaising with our key internal and external stakeholders within the Marketing and Events team and Chinese Travel Guides.


·Liaising with the Marketing Team on any marketing plans needed, and management of any social media aspects – including facilitating communications via relevant channels.


·Analysing Chinese customer reactions to our products during dealings with them in the showroom and at our events and reporting recommendations to senior management and the Marketing Team so as to ensure we are maximising opportunities.


·Coaching, training and supporting our Chinese colleagues within the wider Chinese team in their ability to be successful in growing Chinese business within their own showrooms as well coaching and training the rest of the team as regards Chinese customers.


·Review and improve our current methods of communication with regard to our Chinese clients, both at home and abroad. With particular focus on how we improve communication with Chinese clients abroad who are looking to reserve watches in advance of travel.


·They will also be required to assist in other areas of business where necessary.
