在澳大利亚注册成立公司作为投资工具;
董事会成员中有一定数量的澳大利亚人;
澳大利亚管理团队;

Investing in Australian Agribusiness – How to Do it Successfully
In our previous articles, we have written about the vast array of opportunities for Chinese investors to invest in Australian Agribusiness.
We previously advised that the governments of Australia and China are intent on strengthening cooperation and collaboration in agriculture between the two countries to help address global food security concerns and to benefit Australia’s and China’s agricultural sectors.
But identifying and pursuing investment in Australian Agribusiness is only one part of the story of successfully investing in Australian Agribusiness. Many investors in Australian agribusiness have come - and gone - unsuccessfully. In this article, we look at some of the strategies adopted by successful foreign investors in Australia’s agribusinesses and look at how they have done it successfully.
An Australian Company
Those investors from overseas who have had success in investing in Australian Agribusiness have had as a key philosophy the concept of being, as far as possible, an Australian company. That has meant, wherever possible, using:
a company incorporated in Australia as the investment vehicle
a significant number of Australians on the board
an Australian management team
an Australian workforce
Australian technology (or if the investor has superior technology, then introducing that technology into Australia).
A Highly Developed Business Plan
Successful investors in to Australian agribusiness have all had highly developed business plans which look at the investment as a standalone business created to deliver a commercial rate of return. Those investors have been committed long-term investors from the outset to insulate the investor, as far as possible, from market pressures and allow them time to execute on the business plan. Australian agribusiness, whilst not necessarily volatile, is a long-term investment and generally speaking, with patience, over time Australian agricultural returns are in the order of 8% - 10% per annum.
Investment in Community and an Industry Generally
A key philosophy of successful foreign investors in to Australian agriculture has been the commitment to invest in the community and in the industry generally in which they operate.
Successful foreign investors in Australian agriculture have shared their knowledge with other local agricultural associations and companies and made contributions to the industry that they operate in, where they can.
Successful foreign investors have become a part of the community in which they operate, including for example, utilising local contractors and supporting local cultural and sporting events thereby demonstrating a willingness to be part of the community. This, in turn, has seen the investor receive great goodwill from the communities and industries of which they are a part.
Engagement with Foreign Investment Review Board
Successful foreign investors have embraced the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) process where it applies to investments made. As we have previously written, there are many exemptions for foreign investment into Australian agribusiness, but where Foreign Investment Review Board approval is required, regular and open dialog, communication of the investor’s business plan, business principles, means of community engagement and intended employment of local Australians to FIRB has been beneficial not only in securing those approvals but in also developing a successful culture with which to go forward and invest in Australian agribusiness.
It is hoped that these thoughts, which we have been obtained from those of our clients who are successful foreign investors in Australia’s agriculture sector, provide “food for thought” for intending investors in to the significant opportunities which exist for Chinese investors to invest in Australian agribusiness.
