纪录片放映(58分钟)与讨论:男声女权穆斯林 Manhood in Contemporary Islam: “Manislam”Documentary Film Screening and Discussion

在美国和世界各地，非穆斯林往往对穆斯林的含义持有片面的看法。例如，当非穆斯林想到伊斯兰教时，他们经常想到的第一件事就是穆斯林社会中女性的角色和待遇。伊斯兰社会中的男性的责任和挑战往往被忽视。北京美国中心将与中国国际女性影展合作放映和讨论纪录片“男声女权穆斯林”。电影放映后，观众将有机会和土耳其裔挪威作家，纪录片导演及制片人NefiseÖzkal Lorentzen 进行讨论。通过记录来自4个不同国家的4名穆斯林男子，这部电影探索了穆斯林的男性特质，并试图通过移除穆斯林父权制传统的表象对伊斯兰社会进行更深层次的探索，以便更好地理解男性在当代伊斯兰教中扮演的角色以及他们为改革宗教和社会所做的努力。放映结束后，电影导演将主持讨论并回答观众提问。

Inthe U.S. and around the world, non-Muslims often have a narrow view of what itmeans to be Muslim. For example, when non-Muslims think of Islam one of thefirst things they often think about is the role and treatment of women inMuslim societies. However, the burdens and challenges of manhood within Islamicsocieties are often overlooked. In partnership with the China Women’s FilmFestival, the Beijing American Center will host a screening and discussion ofthe documentary film “Manislam”by writer, filmmaker, producer Nefise ÖzkalLorentzen. Through personal portraits of 4 Muslim men from 4different countries, the film explores Muslim masculinities and attempts toremove Muslim men from their patriarchal heritage in order to better understandthe role they play in contemporary Islam and the efforts they have made toreform their religion and society. After the screening, the film’s director willlead a discussion and answer audience questions.
This program will be conducted inEnglish. The film will be in Bengali, Turkish, Indonesian, Arabic and Englishwith English and Chinese subtitles.
