ONE of Bellevue Hill’s most distinctive homes, Chateau de Benelong, has sold for more than $6 million.
The property, listed with Paul Biller of Biller Property, sold before auction to a Chinese buyer with Australian residency.
The six-bedroom home at 12 Benelong Crescent has become a landmark in Bellevue Hill with its all white exterior featuring vast marble terraces and soaring columns.
The Hollywood Regency-style home was built in 1977 and has undergone extensive renovation in recent years.
The vendors Lynda Giang-Nguyen and Nhi Nguyen bought the place for $4.95 million in 2012.
It was listed last May with a price guide of more than $5 million, but the home, which has a distinctive Roman-style column facade, failed to sell.
It was set for a May auction with a price guide of more than $7 million, before being sold for more than $6 million this week.
Mr Biller confirmed the sale.
The six-bedroom house has five bathrooms, a self-contained apartment and a four-car lockup garage.
There is also a heated pool with spa jets, an outdoor poolside pavilion with barbecue, home office, gym, library and a media room over the three levels.
