Agent Ian Jackson, of Kay & Burton, Bayside, could not disclose the sale price but said it was “in line” with expectations.
The four-storey, 2000sq m house was snapped up within four weeks of hitting the market.
The property is packed with luxury features, including a 12-car garage, billiard room, cinema, gym and wine cellar with lounge area.
It was once owned by former St Kilda Football Club president Rod Butterss.
The sale is a contender for a new Brighton record, which was set at $18 million by the sale of 12 Moule Ave last year.
It was a hot weekend for property across Melbourne, with 77.5 per cent of auctions selling, according to preliminary figures from CoreLogic RP Data.
Suburbs in the city’s south-east and outer-east notched the best results, with sales at nine in 10 auctions.
A basic three-bedroom house in Burwood was one of the standout sales, fetching $2.616 million under the hammer.
The 1468sq m block at 8 Edwards St is primed for redevelopment, with permits to build four townhouses.
A converted warehouse in Brunswick hit $1.9 million at one of the top auctions in the northern suburbs.
The 600sq m property at 10-12 Collier Cres included two buildings — a five-bedroom residence and separate two-storey studio.
