TheBureau of Consular Affairs reports that the database responsible for handlingbiometric clearances has been rebuilt and is being tested. 39 posts, representing more than two-thirdsof our normal capacity, are now online and issuing visas. We are working torestore full biometric data processing.

Weissued more than 45,000 visas yesterday. Beijing alone issued nearly 15,000 visas.

6月22日已经发出4.5万份签证，大约1.5万份是在北京发出，可以说是美国在世界上最繁忙的大使馆了。

A：Weanticipate that the system will be fully reconnected this week. We plan to work over the weekend to clear ourbacklog.

Q：What does this mean for travelers seeking visas?

A：Manyposts are now rescheduling interviews. In some cases, interviews will be available as soon as June 24. Please check the website of the nearestembassy or consulate for interview appointment availability and up-to-datemessages.

Q：How many people were affected by this outage?

问：这次的签证系统中断已经影响了多少人？

A：Wehandle an average of 50,000 applications daily worldwide. During the past two weeks, consular sectionshave continued to interview travelers who applied June 8 or earlier. Interviews will now be available for thosewho applied after June 8.

答：我们平均每天会收到5万份来自全球各地的签证申请。过去的两周时间内，领馆仍旧继续面试6月8日及之前的签证申请，现在6月8日之后申请的也可以约签了。

Q：Once operational, how will cases be prioritized?

问：签证系统重新开始运营后，要怎样才能获取优先处理呢？

A：Weare already prioritizing urgent humanitarian cases and temporary agriculturalworkers. We are working as quickly aspossible to clear the backlog of pending visa cases. Nearly 1,700 temporary orseasonal workers have been issued new visas in Mexico. These are applicants whose biometric data wascaptured before the systems went down. We apologize to travelers and recognizethat this has caused hardship to some individuals waiting for visas.
