2016.06.04 A类Task 2 范文
It has been suggested that everyone in the world wants to own a car, a TV and a fridge. Do you think disadvantages of such a development outweigh advantages?
In a society of materialism, a lot of people want to have more in life. Modern technologies like TV’s, fridges and cars were luxury items that have become necessities of today. There are both pros and cons to this, but the latter definitely outweighs the former.
【作者在introduction段就给出了自己的观点:the latter(cons) definitely outweighs the former(pros).
On one hand, consumerism in wanting a fridge or a car can be seen as a benefit that drives society today. In most countries around the world, capitalism has allowed nations to thrive economically. For instance, the demand for cars globally has resulted in burgeoning Japanese car manufacturing industries that provide employment for thousands of people to produce vehicles in bulk. This has particularly benefited Japanese businesses like Toyota or Honda, and when in high-demand mass production is enabled, the cost of items decrease and consumers ultimately benefit.
在自己写文章的时候,也可以用can be seen as a benefit that… 另外,类似于thrive economically, in bulk, in high-demand, mass production都是各位烤鸭小伙伴们值得学习积累的词汇哦~ 】
On the other hand, wanting worldly goods like TV’s and gadgets has resulted in a society of excess, and in some instances have altered the way some people live these days. For example, we would be hard-pressed to find families who do not have iPad electronic tablets, multiple mobile phones and even sometimes a few TV’s in a single household. It is clear that people have become accustomed to wanting more and more, rather than be satisfied with basic necessities we already have. The negative aspects of consumerism is thus palpable.
【作者的观点是cons outweigh pros,那么这一段就要来说有什么disadvantages了——Result in a society of excess/alter the way people live。
The disadvantages of buying more goods than we need definitely outweighs positive aspects. The environment has been affected the most in our desire for materialistic items. Sadly, as advertisements promote the ‘need’ for newer, better models of TV’s and cars, society has similarly abided by buying them regardless if they need to or not, leading to greater disposal of electronics and plastics that are damaging the planet.
Has been affected the most, abided by, regardless if, leading to, greater disposal of, damage the planet
In conclusion, I believe from the points above that whilst there are benefits to consumerism, the negative effects it has on people’s behaviors as well as the harm made to our environment exceeds the advantages.
