English Corner: Discussion on American Values and Lives
Please come and join us a presentation and discussion regarding the American value and belief system. The American presenter will discuss the culture in the U.S. , how it developed its current characteristics, and how it differs from other countries. The presenter will also touch on the concept of the “American Dream” and if it still valid. After the presentation, the lecturer will take questions from the audience.
World AIDS Day Film Screening and Discussion
In recognition of World AIDS Day, there will be a screening of How to Survive a Plague, a documentary film that tells the story ACT UP and TAG — whose activism and innovation in the 1980s and '90s turned AIDS from a death sentence into a manageable condition. The screening will be followed by a discussion of the film and the HIV/AIDS epidemics in the U.S. and China today.
English Corner: Discussion on American Family and Life
Social Entrepreneurship and Benefit Corporations
Professor Dayle M. Smith, Dean of the School of Business at Clarkson University, will provide a new way of looking at entrepreneurship, business and social enterprise, exploring the concept of Benefit Corporations or "B-Corps” and how social innovation is changing the world. Follow her on a journey through the rise and excitement of entrepreneurial initiative, social innovation and how the values of a younger generation have resulted in a social movement around business and doing good in the world. You'll hear about young entrepreneurs, leadership in companies dedicated to improving a global community, and recommendations on how we can influence the next set of business leaders.

English Corner: Discussion on American Foreign Policy
Come and learn about the history of American foreign policy.
We will cover America's beginning as a withdrawn, fledgling nation to its growth into a world superpower following the end of WWII into the post-Cold War Era. The interactive lecture will pay special attention to significant historical events, domestic and international, as well as visions of the future that have impacted U.S. foreign policy. By the end of the lecture, you will understand ideas like “manifest destiny,” “Wilsonian idealism,” and “isolationism.”
