This program will be conducted in English.
The U.S. State Department has a robust and impressive collection of art in its consulates and embassies all over the world. But managing all of these collections and historic structures is not always an easy task. Come join us at the Beijing American Center this Friday for a talk by one of the State Department’s curators, Joseph Angemi Jr., where he will discuss the many different mediums he works with and how he and his department display and care for the art. During the talk not only will you learn about what it takes to create and maintain a large and unique art collection but you will also have a chance to see for yourself some of the Embassy’s art that is currently on display at the Beijing American Center!
About the Speaker:
Joseph Angemi Jr. received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in American History and Cultural Anthropology, and his graduate studies at Villanova University focused on history and material culture. Angemi brings with him twenty years of museum and gallery experience, including his roles as Director/curator the Avalon History Center and chief registrar at the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library. He also has served on numerous cultural resource disaster recovery teams. Today he administers the preservation, care, and exhibitions of the 18,500 piece cultural heritage collection worldwide.

The program will start at 6:30pm and doors will open at 6pm. Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes before the program starts to allow enough time to go through security.
