「Topic」More people are using mobile phones and computers to communicate. Therefore people are losing the ability to communicate with each other face to face. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The advancement of technology has brought about many changes to modern life. Social theorists have postulated that face-to-face communication has deteriorated due to the increased usage of mobiles and computers to communicate. I strongly disagree that technology has reduced personal communication capabilities and I will explain why in this essay.
【postulate和deteriorate这两个词绝对值得大家摘抄下来。适当的时候用来替换定能加分哦!】
First, verbal communication skills are developed early on in life through interactions in schools. Most people attend some sort of schooling, and schools generally have other students. Additionally, while it is common for youngsters to get mobile phones at earlier ages these days, kids must still generally wait until adolescent years to receive phones. Given that most children spend several years interacting with others in person before they receive phones, verbal skills are developed independent of mobiles. For instance, I was 17 years old before receiving a phone.
【Given that这个词,易记易用。层层递进,CC清晰。】
Additionally, computers and the Internet allow people more opportunities to communicate face-to-face. In modern times, the term ‘face-to-face’ has been redefined due to technological advancements. Video calls allow people to see each other whilst chatting, regardless of distances between them, something not possible decades ago. While it may be easier to read body language in person, it is undoubtedly easier to read someone’s face during a video call than over a telephone call. For instance, no longer can someone roll his or her eyes during a conversation if a program like Skype is used to communicate.
【整个段落里面并没有难词大词,但词句却依然是高分。学会用简单的词汇写出高分的语句才是正经事。表达更重要的是准确,而不是show off “big” words】
In conclusion, technology has profoundly impacted the way the world interacts, and I believe it has increased people’s capacity for face-to-face communication, people can speak to each other over great distances, using communication skills developed early in life. Whether or not mobile phones have negatively impacted people’s written communication skills is a discussion for another day.
