Former home of PM Tony Abbott hits the market
THE former Wahroonga home of Prime Minister Tony Abbott and his family has hit the market.
The property at 184 Fox Valley Rd will be auctioned with a price guide of $900,000 plus through Ray White Turramurra.
Mr Abbott and his wife Margie bought the home in 1993 for $237,000 and sold it in 1994 for $250,000.
At the time Mr Abbott was press secretary to Liberal leader John Hewson.
The Abbott’s sold the home to buy a four-bedroom house in Forestville, which was within the Warringah electorate which he won in March 1994.
The Federal Government’s Register of Member’s Interests reveals Mr Abbott owns only one property, the home he and his wife live in at Forestville.
The documents also reveal there is a mortgage held on the property
Ray White Turramurra agent David Walker said the Wahroonga was at the entry level for the Wahroonga market and said he expects it will attract first or second home buyers and those wanting to get in to the area.
“It’s got a nice outlook. It’s a quiet location, close to shops and in a sought after pocket of Wahroonga,” Mr Walker said.
“It’s close to the national park and it’s got national park views.”
The four-bedroom home is located in a cul-de-sac at the end of Fox Valley Rd.
It will be auctioned on Wednesday April 16 at 6pm at the Turramurra Masonic Hall.
It can be inspected Wednesday and Saturday 2-2.30pm or by appointment.
The vendors who bought the property in 2006 are moving to be closer to the city
