Inspired by the 1970 Robert Altman film of the same name, M*A*S*H premiered Sept. 17, 1972, and followed the staff of a hospital in South Korea during the Korean War. The show went on to win eight Golden Globes, six People's Choice Awards and 14 Emmys and set a record for most-watched show in TV history, when its series finale aired on Feb. 28, 1983. That day 105.97 million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to the beloved show. That record that stood until the 2010 Super Bowl broke it with 106 million viewers.
