2016年3月13日，CCTV“希望之星”英语风采大赛城市决赛在剑桥郡加拿达外国语学校温情上演，300多名来自番禺区学校和本校的选手们经过初赛的选拔，过五关，砍六将，在家长的陪同下，在老师们和广东省组委会评委们的见证下上演了一场精彩的英文秀盛宴。
On March 13th, The 2016 CCTV Hope Star International Oral English city finals competition was held at Canadian Foreign Language School in Cambridgeshire Garden. After the preliminary rounds, some competitors, who came from Nancun town and our school’s surrounding areas, succeeded in clinching a spot to continue to the city finals. Our distinguished judges came from the Guangdong English committee.
CCTV中央电视台“希望之星”英语风采大赛是中央电视台社教节目中心主办的大型电视英语比赛，大赛自2000年起，每年举办一届，距今已成功举办十六届，影响人数超过一亿人。大赛一直以其无可比拟的学术地位与媒体影响力著称，被视为国内同类比赛中档次和规模最高的赛事。大赛同时在全国100多个城市举办，广州每年有上万中小学生参与，2016年是首次在我校设立分赛区。
CCTV Hope Star International Oral English Competition is an educational program that is broadcasted simultaneously in more than 100 cities across the country. The competition has been held annually since 2000 and since then it’s had a huge impact on China and it’s media. Furthermore, the program is famous for its unparalleled academic status. Today, over one hundred million people participate in the event, thousands in Guangzhou alone, and it’s considered the biggest competition of its kind in the country. Now in 2016 we had the honor and privilege of hosting the CCTV Hope Star International Oral English Competition sub-Division for the first time in our school’s history!
比赛现场中我们看到声情并茂的英语达人秀、幽默诙谐的英语情景描述、机智巧妙的单词拼读、对答如流的城市文化现场问答不断上演。参赛选手以其流畅的英语口语、标准的发音、风趣幽默的表演博得了评委的阵阵掌声。
Even though it was raining, it was not affect the parents and students’ enthusiasm at all. During the competition, the students showed their wonderful talent, humorous English scene description, word spelling and question answering. All the players spoke English fluently, whether their standard pronunciation or humorous performances won the great applauses from the judges.
赛后，我们接到了来自CCTV“希望之星”英语风采大赛的喜报，我校荣获广东城市决赛一等奖10人，二等奖22人，三等奖14人，其中王喻开、王君豪、邓天宥、付蕾、王婧、张沛沄6名学生荣获参加“希望之星”英语风采大赛国际赛总决赛美国站、英国站、加拿大站资格。这些优异成绩的取得，与学校的双母语教学、孩子们的积极努力及家长全力支持是分不开的，这次比赛所取得的成绩，不仅给孩子们增添了信心，何尝不为我们办双母语学校这一办学理念增加力量。
The competition is meaningful, it does not only cultivate the students’ sense to participate in activities actively, but also improve the students’ enthusiasm and initiative to learn English. Thanks for all the players to show us a wonderful English performance. We wish all the players to get an outstanding achievement come to participate in the provincial finals English competition, come on!
