The sports industry is now a truly global business and is not only one of the most exciting and rapidly growing but also one of the most competitive. GlobalSportsJobs, despite the name, is not a recruitment company nor does it wish to be one, we did however set out to build a digital media and talent platform for the industry which would allow sports organisations around the world to create a digital presence through our platforms to engage directly with an audience of professionals already working in the industry and an ever growing audience of those outside the industry, with the necessary skill sets, wishing to build a career in the industry.

The role of the Senior Business Development Manager is to present and sell the GlobalSportsJobs digital media and talent business solutions to those organisations that recognise the importance of attracting a greater quality of talent but are not currently using our platforms. This will include organisations across all sectors of the international sports industry including federations, local organising committees, agencies, broadcasters, clubs, teams and leagues, venues, and sporting goods.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced business development specialist with a track record of selling into sports organisations by understanding their needs and challenges; who will have strong presentations skills and who will develop sales opportunities using a strategic and consultative approach. The candidate will be expected to exceed personal revenue targets while helping the team achieve overall goals.
- Build, maintain and manage a healthy qualified opportunity pipeline through process, analysis, insights, relationship building, educating and meeting client needs with our portfolio of digital media and talent solutions
- Produce high-quality recommendations working with internal teams to create impactful collateral that presents the GlobalSportsJobs value proposition in an effective and inspiring manner
- Negotiate and close annual digital media and talent licence agreements with senior decision makers
- Leverage reporting tools in salesforce, providing accurate perspective of current pipeline and overall activity levels that exceeds promised deliverables
- Develop strategic partnerships with relevant external organizations to facilitate pipeline development and increase closure rates
- Work with our Chief Commercial Officer to develop, implement and adhere to a personal business plan
- Keep up to date with industry trends and the competitive marketplace
- Conduct the full range of business development activities to support your objectives from telephone and desk research, to networking at events, through to contributing to proposals and campaigns
- Expanding the client base, exceeding revenue targets and achieving monthly activity goals across assigned sectors and regions
- High quality management and servicing of core customer base
- Maintaining the high quality and professional image of GlobalSportsJobs in all communications and dealings with clients and prospects
- Creating satisfied clients
- A good business degree or equivalent work experience
- 6+ years of experience with proven track record of selling strategic solutions into senior decision-makers including CEO’s, line managers and ideally HR and administrative functions within sports organisations
- Proven, process-driven business development success selling to organisations within multiple sectors of the international sports industry with a strong network across target clients in these sectors
- An uncompromising attention to detail and a data driven analytical approach to business
- Demonstrable ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level
- Understanding of trends within the international sports industry a strong desire to contribute to its increasing professionalism
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Salesforce
- Fluency in written and verbal English is a must a second language would be desirable
- An in-depth understanding of the structure of the market and the growth challenges faced by organisations in this industry
- Successful strategic and tactical consultative solutions sales approaches to this industry
