Lu Oliphant is a growing legal firm based in Central London with a team of solicitors practicing across multiple areas of law including conveyancing, general commercial, employment, immigration, and general civil litigation. We provide exceptional legal advice and practical legal solutions to clients in the UK, China, and internationally.
We are seeking a Company Accountant to handle the firm’s accounts including:
- Implementing and monitoring internal accounting system and policies in accordance with the Solicitors Account Rules
- Monitoring and reviewing accounting records and transactions to ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations including reporting to management and investigation into possible fraud or risk of non-compliant activities
- Liaise with clients in relation to AML requirements relating to client payments
- Recording and managing client and office ledgers and bookkeeping records
- Preparing costs estimation for clients, raising client invoices, and processing payments
- Dealing and liaising with the firm’s suppliers including processing suppliers’ invoices and payments
- Preparing and evaluating periodic accounts including budget and expenses, financial reports and reporting to management
- Any duties deemed appropriate by management
We have an international client base with a large Chinese client base, so fluency in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) is an advantage as the role involved some client interactions. The role reports to the Principal Solicitor in charge.
This is a permanent full-time position based in Central London (NW1)
- 2:1 degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent from a reputable university
- Familiarity with the Solicitors Account Rules
- Ideally you would be looking to qualify in CIMA, ACCA or similar
- Fluency in English is essential (and fluency in Chinese is a plus), as well as good communication skills in general
- Excellent IT skills
- Experience working previously in a similar role would be advantageous
- Ability to work as a member of a team and independently
As a guide, it is envisioned that the role will require prior experience, but all candidates with the necessary skills to fulfil the role will be considered.
