An opportunity for an Archive Cataloguer has arisen to complete the cataloguing of circa 50,000 photographs, as well as a smaller number of ephemeral and 3D items relating to Russian and Chinese art, history and culture in the David King collection.

The collection, assembled over four decades by the British collector David King, has recently been acquired by Tate. Comprising tens of thousands of items, it spans the tumultuous period in Russian history from the revolutions of 1905 and 1917 to the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953 as well as a smaller section dealing with Communism in China.

You will be a qualified professional archivist with experience of cataloguing personal papers, objects and photographic items onto a recognised collection management system such as CALM. Familiarity with Russian history and handling historical research material is desirable. 

You will be working alongside a fellow Archive Cataloguer as well as a Processing Assistant and a Translator within a small, enthusiastic and friendly team in the Library and Archive, all of whom participate in the delivery of research services to Tate staff and external researchers in the Hyman Kreitman Reading Rooms at Tate Britain. You will, therefore, have good communication and interpersonal skills with experience of delivering excellent customer service.
