S&P Global Ratings is offering a work experience opportunity within its global ESG Assessments / Corporate Ratings team. Working from London, this role is dedicated to completing research, analysis, outreach and engagement tasks and to developing S&P Global Ratings’ new Corporate Entity ESG Assessment concept and tool to its global client base. The work experience will present an opportunity to learn and experience the breadth and depth of S&P Global Ratings’ analytics, and will be focused primarily on measuring corporates’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities profiles. 

In this role, you will be working as a part of ESG Assessments team within Corporate Ratings and supporting ongoing projects over the period of 1 September 2017 until 28 February 2018. The internship will involve company, sector and thematic research to broaden the understanding of ESG risks and opportunities. The work experience will report to one project managers who will provide guidance and training throughout the work experience. 

Participate in an international ESG research and analytics team conducting in-depth research on the ESG performance of companies 

Provide high-quality insights and recommendations from complex information for consultative projects 

Work collaboratively with a diverse team across multiple locations to conduct research, information exchange, and thought leadership support, and ensure the quality of assessment findings 

An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, which includes business, economics and finance, natural resource economics and environmental sciences, with a post-graduate degree in a related subject 

A good understanding of business and how sustainability can be integrated into investor decision-making related to: risk management, ESG reporting, and product or supply chain optimization 

Demonstrated ability to synthesize technical data to develop business insights on companies’ environmental and financial performance 

The candidate should be conscious of detail and numerically proficient with natural curiosity, and an innovative approach to problem solving. Advanced word-processing and spreadsheet skills are expected 

Fluency in additional languages (in particular Spanish, Portuguese, French, Japanese or Mandarin) will be looked upon favorably 

High motivation and interest in pursuing career in the sustainability field 

Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills

 
Personable, with a demonstrated strength in planning and executing work assignments independently, and as part of an international research team 

Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, with a positive, “can do” and “take ownership” attitude
