At the centre of BP's Aromatics & Acetyls business, the Strategy Analyst will report to the Strategy Director and support strategy development for the business, lead on competitor intelligence gathering and reporting, China carbon emission strategy and coordinate external consultant resources and subscriptions.

This role has been opened up in Sunbury following a business transformation within our Petrochemicals business that will realign this work through our UK Centre.

• Support strategy refresh context for all product lines including: updating supply/demand balances, tradeflows, utilizations, correlations to shape spread and pricing assumptions. Maintain updates to capacity additions/shutdowns and new build announcements.

• Conduct scenario analysis using models such as the Acetic Acid Industry Model (AAIMs) and pricing correlations

• Support Business Improvement Plans (BIPs) to ensure consistency with global and long term forecasts

• Support Segment and Group led investor presentations by validating supply and demand and business environment proof points

• Drive Competitor Intelligence and Analysis by developing key competitors’ quarterly performance comparison to global Aromatics and Acetyls business, monitor key competitors’ strategy & portfolio changes

• Monitor emerging threats that would impact competitive position: new builds, emerging technologies, industry mergers & acquisitions, emerging competitors, regulatory proposals.

• Lead China Carbon Emission advocacy and compliance strategy to maintain competitive position. Participate in carbon emission forums.. Develop plan to meet China Emission Trading System (ETS) on- line schedule and methods which will be used for PTA and acetyls industry. Assist BP China JVs on China ETS on- line preparation

• Maintain external consultant subscription list, test business critical needs from business and long term strategy requirements, including cost curve inputs/models. Negotiate material consultants contracts;

• Manage key consultant relationships and obtain insights to input into strategy refresh

• Support business information alignment with Marketing Analysts working in the Global Strategic Marketing Director team.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Strategy and chemical industry experience, particularly in petrochemicals area

• Strong understanding of competitor analysis including interpreting financial reports and developing competitor insight

• Further commercial business qualifications

• Ideally Chinese (Mandarin) speaker

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Finance
