The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for a qualified Media Assistant to work for the Embassy’s Public Affairs Office for three months.
This role provides specialist communications expertise in an exciting working environment. In this role you will:
Report to the Public Affairs Manager at the New Zealand Embassy;
Monitor media, identify trends and escalate issues as required;
Provide high quality newsletter or media coverage clippings for China and New Zealand-based stakeholders;
Implement communications plans and operate in line with the communications strategies of the Embassy;
Support and develop content for the Embassy’s social media presence;
Support Public Affairs Manager and Public Affairs Adviser in organising media activities.
We are looking for someone with:
A communications based or other relevant education background;
English and Chinese language skills;
Knowledge of social media platforms and practices, including the social media environment in China and familiarity with relevant software that are commonly used for producing content for social media channels;
Ability to write with flair in Chinese;
Excellent organisational skills.
We would particularly welcome the following additional skills/experience, albeit not mandatory:
An understanding of the operating environment for New Zealand’s representation in China would be considered a plus;
A capability in the use of multimedia software such as image and video editing tools (not mandatory but valuable), or the willingness to learn.
