IELTS A Task 2
Students at schools and universities learn far more from lessons with teachers than from other sources (such as the internet, television). To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Teachers are thought of as the laying foundations of learning. Some people believe that school and university students learn far more from classrooms with teachers than from alternative sources; a view with which I agree only to a small extent as in my opinion, holistic learning comes from both teachers and other sources.
On the one hand, teachers provide a physical mode of learning to students as they enable face to face communication. Teachers teach via practical examples allowing young minds to learn not only theories but also application of such theories. For example, in a chemistry class in school, the teacher will demonstrate the different chemical reactions from distinct concoctions to explain the various concepts of acids and bases that students will find easy to follow and understand comprehensively. Additionally, teachers allow students the ability to cross question providing them with the opportunity to clarify any doubts that may arise on the spot while learning a particular topic.
However, other sources such as the internet and television provide a wide range of information that is beyond human capacity. Such sources enable students to gain extensive knowledge on any topic that they may be interested in without any barriers to learning. For instance, university students are able to research on specific topics ranging from medicine, engineering, business and economics to fashion, through several papers, articles, interview videos and talks on the internet as well as the TV, allowing them to learn much more than in classrooms. As a result, these other sources become complementary methods of learning alongside classes with teachers.
In conclusion, I agree to a small degree only with the belief that pupils learn more from teachers in classrooms than from other sources as both the modes support each other for well-rounded learning.
