科学数学联欢日
2014.12.05.加拿大高中举行了科学数学联欢日,此次活动是为了教导同学们科学与数学在生活中的重要性。
On December 5th 2014,the International Division held Math-science Day. This activity teaches us how important math and science are in our daily life.
7:50,活动正式开始,同学们集体去往报告厅,参加竞答项目,竞答项目由Grace与Mylen两位外教担任主持人。在每道问题回答前现场都会掀起一场热论,并在三十秒后给出答案。
At 10 to 8 in the morning, the Math-science Day officially started. Students all went to the lecture hall and joined the Quiz Bee. Grace and Mylen were the hosts of the Quiz Bee. Before students answered the questions, there were hot debates about the questions,and they gave the answer after 30 seconds.
然后12年级的同学们在报告厅中展示了一些和物理有关的实验并进行了关于实验的演讲。这些演讲和实验的内容五花八门,有关于大气压的,有关于磁力的,还有关于浮力的。12年级的同学们用有趣的试验吸引住了同学们和老师们。这些实验中还蕴含了有趣的科学道理,使同学们对物理了解的更多。
The Grade 12 students showed some physics-related experiments in the lecture hall and made a speech about the experiments. The content of these speeches and experiments were varied, some of the contents about atmospheric pressure, some were about magnetism, and some were about buoyancy. Grade 12 used interesting experiments to attract students and teachers. These experiments also contained interesting scientific truths to make students know more things about physics.
同时进行的中国象棋比赛中,教室里一片寂静无声,一场场 “杀戮” 在棋盘上悄然进行,正是无言的较量。还有海报比拼,每小组都在那张白色海报纸上尽情地挥舞着画笔,创作着属于自己的科学数学标志。
The next was Chinese cheese competitio., It was silent in the classroom except for the sound of cheese. At the same time, it was the poster competition,where every groups made their design came true on the totally white posters.
在12月5日上午的10:00左右,12年级的同学们在报告厅中展示了他们制作的过山车。他们介绍了过山车的制作过程和其中涉及到的物理知识,这让同学们大开眼界。
At 10 o’clock, December 5th, Grade 12 students showed their roller coaster project in the lecture hall. They introduced the production process of the roller coaster and physical knowledge which involved roller coasters, and it was eye-opening for the students.
上午的最后两项是魔方和数独大赛。 数独比赛由Mylen 老师和Melinda老师做为裁判。这场比赛有近20名参赛选手。规则是在20分钟内答完第一道数独题才有资格做第二道数独题,前三位做完第二道的选手将获得比赛的前三名。但是比赛中出了一点小插曲,因为没有人在二十分钟内做完第一题,所以Mylen老师将规则改为在接下来的二十分钟内前三名答完第一题的人胜出,但是依然没有人能做到这一点。后来Mylen老师将规则改为在11:40时,所有人都必须交卷,而分数高的前三人获胜。获得第一名的是11年级的肖建州同学。在数独比赛过后,Mylen 老师和Melinda老师在10年级教室中进行了魔方比赛。这场比赛有近10名参赛者,规则是谁将乱掉的魔方复位的越快,谁就胜出。获得第一名的是12年级的赵海伦同学。
The last two competitions in the Morning were Sudoku puzzle and Rubik’s Cube. Mylen and Melinda were the referees of the Sudoku puzzle. This game had nearly 20 players. The Rule was that players answered the first Sudoku puzzle in 20 minutes, then they could get second Sudoku puzzle. The fastest three players who finished the second puzzle would be the top three. But the game had a little episode, because no one finished the first puzzle in 20 minutes, so Mylen changed the rule. It was that the person got the highest score would win the prize. The winner was Grade 11's Xavier.After the Sudoku game, Mylen and Melinda started the Rubik's Cube game in grade 10's classroom. This game had nearly 10 players, and the rule was that the player who fixed all six surfaces of the cube first won. The winner was Grade 12's Helen.
到了下午,便是建塔大赛,在规定时间内要使用所发的有限材料建成最坚固,美观,高耸的“塔”,对各组颇有难度,但各组奇招百出,使用一切可能的方法让自己的塔达到巅峰。而与此同时,还有寻宝的同学们在国际部楼里争分夺秒的完成任务。
In the afternoon was the competition of building the tower. It provisioned that they had to use their limited material to build the strongest, most beautiful, and tallest tower. It was hard for each group, but they all figured it out in their own ways. They used every possible way to make their tower became the best. At the same time, there were many students join the treasure hunt and they against time to finish their mission.
在12月5日下午1:00左右,11年级的同学们在报告厅中进行了一些关于数学的演讲。这些演讲的内容十分新颖,有关于黑洞数的,还有有关于质数的。11年级的同学们用视频和精彩的内容吸引住了同学们和老师们。这些演讲中还蕴含了简单易懂的数学知识,使同学们对数学了解的更透彻。
At 9 o’clock, the December 5th, Grade 11 students had gave some mathematics-related speeches in the lecture hall. The content of these speeches was very novel, and some of content was about the black hole number, and some of content was about prime numbers. Grade 11s used videos and exciting content to attract students and teachers. These speeches also contained straightforward mathematical knowledge, which made students have a more clear understanding about mathematics.
最后便是变形金刚展示,各各班级为了这一个模型,都呕心沥血,日夜奋战在加工铠甲的第一线上。终于苦尽甘来,自己的成果可以在公众之下各显身手。有的主打卖萌,有的主打实力派,结实才是硬道理。最终以11B夺得桂冠,11A亚军告终。
Finally, it was the most excited part, the transformers. 11B was the champion, and 11A was the runner-up.
一天忙碌而又快乐的活动暂时告一段落,期待下次再见。
