NBCUniversal’s international operations outside the US and Canada include film and television distribution, home entertainment distribution, channels, film and television production, theme parks and news operations. The company is led by Kevin MacLellan, Chairman. MacLellan is responsible for oversight of all NBCUniversal International’s businesses, as well as identifying and executing international growth opportunities for both NBCUniversal and Comcast Corporation. With more than 2,200 employees across 34 countries, NBCUniversal’s international portfolio consists of international channels delivering quality content to 176 territories across EMEA, Latin America and Asia; television production labels in both UK and Australia; a library of 4,000 feature films and 75,000 TV episodes for international television distribution; direct film distribution operations in 11 countries; direct home entertainment distribution operations in 7 countries with licensee relationships covering approximately 55 additional territories; CNBC International, which broadcasts across EMEA and APAC; Parks & Resorts operated through license agreements in Singapore and Japan; and an international NBC News team based in London.

We are seeking an experienced lawyer to work in the Information, Governance and Privacy Team in London. You will work across all elements of NBCUniversal’s global media and distribution portfolio within the International territories that fall outside the US. You will provide contractual, policy, regulatory and compliance support to NBCUniversal brands and businesses as well supporting businesses in developing and implementing digital strategies.

-   Provide legal support to global business lawyers and business contacts on vendor contract privacy review and provisions 

-   Support HR and employment counsel with International employee data privacy matters (e.g., use of new technologies, bring your own device, Safe Harbor requirements and re-certification efforts) 

-   Conduct privacy impact assessments 

-   Management of access requests under European legislation

-   Maintain up-to-date overview of International (Non-US) Data Protection laws and guidelines

-   Assist with privacy complaints and breaches in the International business 

-   Assist with filing and registration requirements with European data protection regulators 

-   Support compliance and auditing framework for Internationally based businesses 

-   Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining privacy policies and procedures 

-   Provide a point of focus for privacy compliance within international businesses 

-   Liaise with local data protection officers where required 

-   Establish close relationships with, and manage, local data protection and external counsel as required

-   European or other language skills (French / German / Mandarin) an advantage 

-   Knowledge of and experience working with European data protection regulators 

-   Knowledge of APAC and LatAm data production regime advantageous 

-   Media / entertainment experience preferable
