The Education Reform and Innovation (ERI) Team  wishes to appoint a full-time Research Associate to work on the first phase of a project with the China Center for Strategic Studies at Peking University to develop an Early Years Centre at Peking University.

The aim of the first phase of the project is to establish a firm understanding of the overall scope and breadth of the project.  The postholder is expected to be fully engaged with this aim from the start and to support the team in building this knowledge.  In particular, the postholder will be responsible for joining the orientation workshops and using these opportunities to begin the baseline data research.  Working closely with other people on the ERI team, the postholder will be involved in creating the research instruments, conducting the research and writing the report that will feed into the proposal for the second phase of the project.  You will help with all aspects of project management, research management, and communication with colleagues in China and elsewhere, and will also support the ERI team with other projects in China, including some cross-project work.  While the role will conclude in the first instance when funding for phase one ceases at the end of 2017, the aim of both ERI and Peking University upon successful completion of the first phase is to progress to a three year partnership to develop and implement the Early Years Centre.

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant subject, be fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and have some research experience in the discipline. You will show evidence of strong knowledge of mixed research methods and of drafting reports and contributing to writing for academic publication to a high standard. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a range of professionals across diverse settings as well as the capacity to manage own workload and work independently to tight deadlines within guidelines provided are also essential.
