Some people think that we should protect wild animals with no exception of reasons when they are in danger. Others believe that we should let nature determine the fate of wild animals. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Wildlife conservation seems to be the topic of the hour in the 21st century. Some people view protection of wild animals by individuals as a must without any exceptions, while others believe that only natural forces should be allowed to govern wildlife. I agree with the former view many wild animals need protection due to human activities and their protection leads to conservation of the planet.
On the one hand, conserving wildlife is exceptionally important as wild animals constitute a vital part of the natural order of the planet and without them life would cease to exist. It is due to various human activities such as excessive deforestation and hunting that many wild species are extinct or endangered, resulting in the need for action by humans. For example, large-scale poaching has resulted in endangering tigers without whom the natural food chain would be disrupted leading to severe ecological imbalance. As a result, many actions are needed for protecting tiger populations from disappearing if environmental stability and sustainability of life is to be maintained.
On the other hand, the other belief prescribes that nature should determine the fate of wild animals because too many steps to protect wild animals may result in interference with natural balance and severe consequences. For instance, in Brazil, conservationists built preservation farms for the red-back crabs which led to a sudden peak in their population. This increase in aquatic predators caused a huge decline in the number of fishes in Brazilian waters and affected the livelihood of many fishermen and created several problems for the conservationists.
In conclusion, although nature should be the primary force in deciding the fate of wild animals, human intervention for preserving wildlife is critical for maintenance of life on earth as it is due to human activities that much of the wildlife is endangered.
