The U.S.-China economic relationship is one of the most important bilateral relationships in the world today. It is also a very complex relationship and the challenges and opportunities for both economies, with their different economic institutions, constitutions, and development paths, require careful examination.
State owned enterprises (SOEs) constitute a major part of the Chinese economy and SOE reforms have led to adjustments and shifts in China’s economic landscape. What role will the ongoing SOE reforms have on China’s economic relationship with the U.S.? What are the similarities and differences between how business is done in the U.S. and China? How will each country’s business landscape influence the escalating trade tensions between the two countries? From a sustainable development perspective, what are some of the negatives of both countries’ economic systems? How can the two countries move towards a more harmonized relationship that includes both collaboration and healthy competition? These are some of the important issues that will be discussed during this talk.
This event will be conducted in Chinese.
