A Glance of American Theater Culture: Face-to-Face with Broadway Musical “Kinky Boots”

几乎获得了所有主流音乐剧奖项的百老汇当红音乐剧《长靴皇后》，近期由中国领先的戏剧制作及巡演公司华人梦想（CDE Live）引进中国，在上海和广州站引起轰动。《长靴皇后》根据真人真事改编，讲述了北安普顿的鞋厂继承人查理，与性格张扬的变装皇后萝拉，携手将鞋厂扭亏为营，并最终走上米兰T台大获成功的故事。查理也在与萝拉的合作过程中变得更加包容，二人最终成为挚友。
这部音乐剧2013年获得了13项托尼奖提名，最终囊括了6项大奖，包括：最佳音乐剧、最佳音乐剧音效设计、最佳音乐剧男主角、最佳编舞、最佳词曲创作和最佳编曲；2014年获得格莱美最佳音乐剧专辑奖；2016年拿下3项劳伦斯奥利弗大奖。

The Tony-award winning musical “Kinky Boots,” accompanied by leading theater production company China Dream Live Entertainment (“CDE Live”), has kicked off its China tour in July. “Kinky Boots” features music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein. Inspired by true events, the musical tells the story of Charlie Price. Having inherited a shoe factory from his father, Charlie forms an unlikely partnership with cabaret performer and drag queen Lola to produce a line of high-heeled boots to save the business. In the process, Charlie and Lola discover that they are not so different after all.
“Kinky Boots” earned 13 nominations and 6 Tony wins in 2013, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Sound Design of a Musical, Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical, Best Choreography, Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations. It has also received the Grammy Award for Best Musical Album in 2014 and three Laurence Olivier Awards in 2016.
On the afternoon of September 4th, come join us at the Beijing American Center for a Broadway meet and greet with CDE Live as well as some of the cast and crew of “Kinky Boots.” We hope to see you there!
