澳大利亚最大的城市悉尼被评为全球最宜居的城市之一，那么，在悉尼内部，哪个区域又是最宜居的呢？

最新，澳大利亚新南威尔士州一份报告显示,位于西悉尼的巴拉马打（Parramatta）最近被新南威尔士州（简称新州）一份都市规划报告命名为：新州NSW最宜居的区域。

在和其它20个区域，就基础设施、公共交通和就业机会多少等方面进行比较后，巴拉马打（Parramatta）脱颖而出。

在这份由新州澳大利亚都市开发学院（UrbanDevelopment Institute of Australia）公布的报告称，巴拉马打（Parramatta）的公共交通枢纽的地位，距离主要道路的远近，日益发展壮大的零售业，都是这份报告中力拔头筹的都市发展亮点。

在总分170分中，巴拉马打（Parramatta）获得了135分，超过了宝活（Burwood）、皮尔蒙特（Pyrmont）和好市围（Hurstville）等市镇。

报告衡量各个居住区域规划健康程度标准，比如公共交通、土地使用多样化程度、就业机会多少等。

澳大利亚都市开发学院该报告撰写人称，使用以上的衡量工具，学院组建“新州都市翻新委员会”对于20个样本区域进行了审查。委员会的成员包括新州顶级规划师、都市设计师、建筑师、工程师和开发商等。

新州澳大利亚都市开发学院负责人艾尔斌（Stephen Albin）称，当按照以上标准衡量20个区域后，发现巴拉马打（Parramatta）是最健康的市镇中心。

他说：“在各个地区中，巴拉马打脱颖而出。这座相对最为宜居的区域，还包含大量的开阔地域。

Parramatta tops NSW most livable suburbranking

Parramatta in western Sydney has been named the most livable suburb in New South Wales in a new report.

It came out top in a comparison of 20 suburbs which looked at infrastructure, public transport and access to employment.

Parramatta's public transport interchanges,its close vicinity to major roads and growing retail sector were stand-outfeatures noted in the report by NSW's Urban Development Institute of Australia.

Parramatta was awarded 135 points out of apossible 170, ahead of Burwood, Pyrmont and Hurstville.

Brett Evans, who lives and works in the area,moved there two years ago for better access to services.

"It's vibrant," he said."It's exciting to live here, without inconvenience of having totravel."

Parramatta is the second largest CBD inSydney and the sixth largest in the country.

It also has the fastest growing night-timeeconomy, driven by a growing restaurant and cafe scene.

Mr Evans moved to the area with his wifeJennifer two years ago from Carlingford to have better access to services.

The 54-year-old worked in Parramatta for 10years before moving there.

"There are resources here, there's awhole range of restaurants and clubs," he said.

"It's vibrant here... It's relaxed andhealthier."

"A good walk to work every day isterrific."

'The city of the western suburbs'

Parramatta's Lord Mayor John Chedid saysthe city is no longer seen as the "poor cousin" of Sydney City.

"I think the old story of Parramatta being out west, I think that's disappeared," he said.

"People see us now truly as asustainable city, a city designed for the people."

The chairman of A-League side the WesternSydney Wanderers, Lyall Gorman, says Parramatta's growing sporting scene hasalso contributed to the team's emerging iconic brand.

"It's come to life from a lifestyleand entertainment point… and from a sporting point of view," he said.

"Once people come here they start to understand the Parramatta of 20 years ago is well and truly gone."

"The Parramatta 20 years into thefuture is a remarkably exciting place to be."

The Wanderers, which plays its home matchesat Parramatta Stadium, currently has 17,000 members.

Those on the streets of Parramatta, whetherold or young, also sing their city's praises.

"I like everything about Parramatta. I feel connected to this place. I don't feel left out or anything like that," said one.

"Parramatta has the shopping facilities, it has all the transportation you need, the atmosphere is great andthe people are very nice," said another.

"You've got everything here. Why would you want to go to the city?"
