2016.04.02 Academic Task 2 Sample Essay

It is impossible to help all people in the world, so governments should only focus on people in their own countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is no doubt that there are countless issues globally and it would be impossible to provide aid to everyone in need. Due to this, some people believe that governments should only focus on problems that concern their own countries. I personally believe that whilst concentrating on one’s own nation is important, governments have the moral responsibility to aid people in other countries where possible. 

【作者的观点是，虽然应该concentrate在本国的救治上，但是如果可能的话，还是有一定的道德责任去帮助其他国家有困难的人。是不是读完这个introduction就知道作者大致的观点呢？这就是一个好的introduction最重要的评分点之一。】

On one hand, it is undeniable that addressing the needs of residents in their own country should be the priority of all governments as it increases progression economically and socially. In order to develop as a nation, global authorities have come to realisation that improving the welfare and living conditions of residents is the best way for nations to prosper. For instance, placing emphasis on the needs of residents will improve overall happiness and wealth of people in their communities, which can in turn drive the progress of a nation’s economy and even social development in terms of strengthening national identity. These points are hence why governments should focus on their own country’s issues first and foremost. 

【首先，本国的国民，应该有优先权，可以享受到政府的补助。因为这样可以提升整个国家经济以及社会的进步。无忧小雅哥以及悉尼雅思姐觉得，本段中非常值得大家学习的词组词汇有：address the needs, increase progression, come to realisation, place emphasis on, in turn等等。虽然看起来都不是什么难词，但是如果真的能利用到自己的文章当中，都是一些非常不错的，native的表达哦！】

On the other hand, governments should assist people from other countries wherever possible to strengthen diplomatic and peaceful relationships, even if it is impossible to help everybody. In recent years, we have seen an increasing prevalence of countries around the world aiding less fortunate international communities. For example, the Australian government has been continuously active in providing aid for humanitarian crises and natural disasters. In 2015, the government agreed to provide an intake of twelve-thousand displaced refugees from the conflict between Syria and Iraq, and in 2004 also provided a $1 billion aid package to Indonesia after the deadly Indian Ocean tsunami. By contributing to the less fortunate, the Australian government has managed to strengthen political ties with other countries as well as promote harmony on a global scale. 

【另一方面，作者觉得如果政府在可能的情况下，可以帮助其他国家有困难的人们，即使并不可能去帮助每一个人。作者用了澳洲政府接受难民，提供经济补助作为例子，来证明在有能力的情况下，可能适当的帮助其他国家，这样可以strengthen political ties as well as promote harmony on a global scale. 那么本段中又有哪些值得摘录的词组和表达呢？strengthen relationships, an increasing prevalence of, less fortunate, strengthen political ties, on a global scale 等等。】

In conclusion, I personally believe from the points mentioned above that although governments should prioritise their own country’s requirements, it is also important to help people in need from other countries. Although it is unrealistic to be able to assist all people, aiding in whatever possible way should be any government’s obligation to promote peaceful relationships.

【结尾段自然是要总结全文，重申观点的。尽管帮助所有人是unrealistic的，但是在可能的情况下，但是应该帮助其他国家有困难的人，以促进全球范围内的和平关系。】
