An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Curator to join the Asia Department at The British Museum, responsible for managing the Chinese paintings and prints and the Central Asian collections.

The post holder will be responsible for researching and exhibiting the collection whilst dealing with public enquiries and departmental duty rota; liaising with conservation staff on rolling treatment programs; giving support for loan requests; updating the collection database; arranging access to collections for visiting scholars and students; and maintaining on-going projects and professional established relationships with affiliated individuals and institutions.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have a basic knowledge of Chinese and experience with object handling. The successful candidate will also have excellent IT skills and experience of working with databases. The successful candidate will have experience working in a museum, gallery or equivalent institution, and demonstrable managerial and interpersonal skills.
