Required Skill Sets
Candidates absolutely must be native speakers and writers of Mandarin (普通话 / 国语) as candidates will be expected to undertake our early years curriculum in Mandarin and deliver it to the children in that language. Candidates who do not have native level fluency in Mandarin will not be considered.
Advantageous Qualifications
Degrees in early years education and related fields will be hugely advantageous to candidates. Please bear in mind that before starting we will ask you to ensure that any overseas qualifications are verified by UK NARIC as comparable to a UK NQF Level 6 qualification in the same field.

Purpose of Job:
To play a central lead in helping devise and develop the bilingual and bicultural curriculum at Hatching Dragons, being responsible for working with your colleagues to devise Chinese cultural activities for the early years environment that delivers key aspects of the EYFS but also helps children become culturally aware of China, its history and values and its language
To maintain consistent and regular interaction with the children to ensure that they mature to acquire conversational mandarin as they grow up through the nursery and to be responsible for structuring that language acquisition through the maintenance of language / vocabulary lists that you will target the children to acquire through monthly themes
To contribute to a high quality caring, teaching and learning environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop through individual attention and group activities.
To give support to other team members.
To demonstrate an understanding of, and personal commitment to, the Hatching Dragons Ltd Code of Practice and Staff Handbook.
Key Areas:
Chinese cultural and language curriculum for the age group that you will be responsible for
To maintain all relevant paperwork for children, including Key Person, IEP’s and Safeguarding etc, with support from SMT (Senior Management Team), and SENCO etc as needed and attend external meetings as necessary.
To liaise with the nursery SMT (Senior Management Team) and other Hatching Dragons Ltd staff members who can support you in your role.
Responsibilities:
To help manage nursery assistants, volunteers and placement students with all set-up and close down procedures, as well as the running tasks during the day (clean up duty etc), as set out in the employee handbook operational overview
To undertake all aspects of the Key Person role, including working with the CEO and operations manager to better understand all the child’s and parent’s needs during the initial visit i.n settling in, assistance with registration, where required, help with parents evening, day to day contact, transition planning etc
To be responsible for the delivery of high quality daily observations through the nurseries observational software, as set out in the employee handbook
To be responsible for all planning and next steps associated for the key children under your care, working with your team leader, as set out in the employee handbook, to ensure that your child is always exceeding targets set out in the EYFS wherever possible
To be the primary point of communication between the parent and the nursery on a day to day basis, reporting to them on all nappy changes / meal times and amount eaten / naps / etc
To undertake a two week baseline assessment report of all new key children assigned to you
To be responsible for the medical / dietary / allergy information of the child and to make sure that all practitioners in the setting are aware of your key child’s requirements - making sure chef is aware for food etc
To take note of all nappy changes / nap times / meal times in paper or digital format as the nursery requires and as set out in the employee operations handbook
To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times.
To develop own reflective practice, and keep up to date with recent research, legal requirements and good practice documents etc.
To engage with processes such as induction process, forums, training and conferences etc and utilise the available support within Hatching Dragons Ltd.
To liaise with the SMT (Senior Management Team) and other staff members who can support you in your role.
To work under guidance and as directed.
To be flexible within working practices of the Setting. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.;
Specific Child Care Tasks:
The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development;
To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing;
Toilet support and changing children as required;
Providing comfort and warmth to an ill child
To undertake such duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature, as maybe determined by Hatching Dragons Ltd.
