Liqun Yang
Bio – Dr Liqun Yang, KTN
Liqun obtained a BEng and MEng in Metrology &Instrumentation, and a PhD in biophotonic sensing technology. Following a 3-year Post-Doc, he joined GlaxoSmithKline R&D in 1996, functioning as an in-house technology innovation consultant, identifying, evaluating and transferring disruptive technologies to support drug R&D, particularly sensing related technologies.
He spent three further years with start-up companies between 2005 and 2008, developing sensing technologies for oil & gas and biopharmaceutical measurements. From 2008, Liqun returning to work on knowledge exchange/ knowledge transfer functions in UK universities, managing KE/KT programme, developing industry collaborations, and research commercialization.
Liqun joined KTN in 2014 as a Knowledge Transfer Manager – Sensors, performing innovation-networking functions to facilitate knowledge transfers and support UK business innovations development in sensing technology sectors.
Graham Kerr
Bio – Dr Graham Kerr, CENSIS
Graham Kerr is Technical Director of CENSIS, the Innovation Centre for Sensors & Imaging Systems. Based in Glasgow, Scotland, CENSIS enables industry innovators and university researchers to collaborate at the forefront of market-focused SIS innovation, developing products and services for global markets to create sustainable economic value in the Scottish economy.
As a Post-Doctoral researcher at the University of Glasgow, Graham worked on laser interferometry for gravitational wave detection developing laser stabilisation techniques.
His first foray into industry was with Babcock Energy Systems as a Senior Electronics and Instrumentation Engineer developing controls solutions for the Energy Sector.
He was a founding member of Motorola Manufacturing Systems in Livingston and spent ten years developing factory automation solutions for manufacturing sectors such as cellular communications, semiconductor manufacture and automotive electronics. As R&D Manager for Texol Technical Solutions he led the development of a number of NPI programmes including a range of gas generators for analytical laboratories.
