欢迎您于9月15日星期六前来北京美国中心,参加由美国驻华大使馆地区英语项目办公室(Regional English Language Office)举办的第二十七届英语教学研讨会!此活动免费面向各学段英语教师及教研人员。
本次活动由2位目前在中国高校执教的美国外语/二语教学领域的英语学者(English Language Fellow)为大家带来4场时长均为75分钟的工作坊。活动限100人,实名注册,报满即止。参加活动请务必携带有效身份证件。

9:00-9:15: OpeningRemarks
9:15-10:30:Communicative Language Teaching forGrammar – Shushan Richardson
The goals ofCommunicative Language Teaching (CLT) are to promote communication andauthentic use of language, but that does not mean that CLT is only for speakingclasses. It can be used for writing, listening and reading classes. It can andshould be used to teach and practice grammar. This workshop will present CLTactivities with a focus on grammar across the skills. Teachers will leaveempowered to make their lessons more communicative.
10:45-12:00:Helping Students Learn to MakeAppropriate Tense-Aspect Choices in English – Jody Garcia Cicek
Because Mandarin lacks verb tense markers, it can be especiallydifficult for Mandarin speakers to learn to make appropriate tense and aspect choicesduring real-world written language use. This workshop will review tense andaspect as a system and discuss strategies to move students past conjugating atthe individual sentence level. This workshop will help you propel your teachingfrom short-term outcomes to addressing long-term challenges.

13:30-14:45: Grammar Games: Playing to practice and learn –ShushanRichardson
According to the OxfordDictionary, ‘gamification is the application of typical elements of gameplaying, such as point scoring, competition, rules of play, etc. to other areasof activity. Gamification is exciting because it promises to make the hard stuffin life fun’. Grammar is the "hard stuff" of English, and in thisworkshop we will look at practical ways to impliment game strategies to makeGrammar seem less like work and more like fun. This activities promote theusage and practice of grammar which will lead to great understanding andsuccess for students.
15:00-16:15 How and Why to Teach Phrasal Verbs – JodyGarcia Cicek
It is impossible to understand native English speakers without aknowledge of phrasal verbs. Paradoxically, phrasal verbs are rarely explicitlytaught in EFL textbooks. This is an unfortunate gap for anyone who wants tospeak natural English. This workshop will discuss how and why to teach phrasalverbs in your classroom. During the workshop, you will become more familiarwith phrasal verbs and how they function, as well as create your first phrasalverb lesson plan.
