2015年9月通过的《2030年可持续发展议程》中，联合国确认消除包括极端贫困在内的各个层面的一切形式的贫困，是最重大的全球性挑战，也是可持续发展中不可或缺的要求。《议程》同时呼吁要加强全球团结精神，尤其要关注最贫穷和最脆弱群体的需求。联合国也承认包括微型企业、合作社、跨国公司、民间社会组织以及慈善机构在内的不同私营部门在实施这一新议程方面的作用。

In the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development adopted inSeptember 2015, the United Nations recognizes that eradicating poverty in allits forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest globalchallenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. TheAgenda also calls for a spirit of strengthened global solidarity, focused inparticular on the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable. It alsoacknowledges the role of the diverse private sector, ranging frommicro-enterprises to cooperatives to multinationals, and that of civil societyorganizations and philanthropic organizations in the implementation of the newAgenda.
