What I Learned from Trainingfor a Sport
While growing up as a youngster, my mother would alwaysfind a way to put me in some type of sport, whether it was baseball, soccer, orbasketball. I went to sports practice frequently in elementary school. However,I never really liked it and I thought that I was done with all sports uponentering high school.
In high school, I used to get bullied a lot because ofmy race and scrawny stature. As a result of that, I ended up taking up mixedmartial arts under the leadership of Coach Ken Lee. Iknew Coach Ken very well prior to training because his family attended mychurch.
When I first started training, I had a hard time becauseI still was a little immature with my training habits. Though, as I stuck withit, I developed this sense of discipline and focus that I never had beforetraining.
Everyone in the gym was always very encouraging, especially all of the instructors. The way in which they spoke to us showedthat they all truly believed in our potential for success in life, not just inthe gym.
It was through training that I developed that extremelevel of discipline that I have now. Without that, I wouldn’t be where I amtoday.
