I have heard plenty of good news but there’s one that I would like to talk to you about which made me very happy. It happened nearly 4 years ago. One morning I woke up and checked into my Gmail account and I received an email from a highly respected university in Australia. I applied for so many universities but this particular university was the only one that I really wanted to get into and I was quite surprised they offered me a place.

I still remember the exact day, it was on the 24th of July 2010 and I was still living in my family home in China back then. Anyway, that morning was one of the happiest moments of my life and I will not forget it. I felt very happy and proud that I got this offer because my family and I invested a lot of time, money and hope into this and failure was not an option for me.

Also, I was quite surprised to hear this news because my application letter wasn’t as good as I thought so my chances were slim but somehow they accepted me and I eventually passed their selection criteria and progressed into the next stage which was an assessed online-exam. I did well on that exam too so the hardest part of the whole procedure was being accepted in the first round and I successfully accomplished that. I also felt a strong sense of respect and happiness in my father’s eyes and I could see how proud and satisfied he was and my mother also felt the same way.

Anyway, at first I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read my email but I started to slowly digest the news and realized that I finally did it! My feelings were beyond words to describe and I really hope to experience it again at some point in my life, hopefully in my future career.
