rise, raise

The sun rises in the east.

The river is rising after the rain.

My parents rise very early.

They all rose (from their seats) to greet us.

The river rose a foot in the night.

Rice rose 15 cents in price.

2. rise

There has been a rise in prices.

I’ve got two rises this year.

His rise to power was very rapid.

He raised his voice.

I can’t raise the box.

Her wages were raised.

He is a farmer and raises horses.

I’m going to give you a raise/rise.
