很多学校，比如卡内基梅隆，对大学内各学院毕业生的薪资水平进行了细化，包括计算机科学学院、工程学院（起薪68,300美元）和商学院（起薪65,000美元）。毫不奇怪的是，收入最高的毕业生中大部分都拥有这些学科的学位。但其他学校，比如普林斯顿大学（排名第18位，起薪63,700美元），以及莱斯大学（排名第36位，起薪60,000美元）报告的则是毕业生的整体薪资水平，其中包括文科、美术和社会科学专业。人们认为美术专业会在求职市场上遇冷，但卡内基梅隆大学美术学院的毕业生却表现亮眼，平均起薪62,100美元，在榜单上排名第24位。卡内基梅隆大学的人文学院——特里希人文和社会科学学院（Dietrich College of Humanities & Social Sciences）——也很吃香，它的毕业生平均起薪60,700美元，排名第32位。
