美国名校入学率低得惊人,哈佛新生19%放弃入学

如果你拿到了哈佛的offer会不去上吗?拿到哈佛的录取信,估计很少有人会拒绝吧,但还是有人放弃了哈佛,转投其他大学的怀抱了。U.S.News官网统计261所美国大学2013年秋季的新生入学率(Yield rate),即入学人数与录取人数的比。比如,哈佛大学2013年给2047名学生寄了录取信,但只有1659名学生报到,哈佛这一年的入学率 为81%。


美国学生在拿到多所大学的录取后,选校会更实际一点,除了学校的名气,他们还会考虑学费、地理位置、气候等。因此,确实会有学生选择离家近的州内大学,而放弃顶级名校。


新生报到率(入学率)越高,对学校来说自然越好。为了提高新生报到率,大学会倾向于录取ED申请的学生。这也解释了为什么ED录取率一般要大大高于RD录取率。


这261所美国大学的平均新生入学率仅为34.1%。哈佛虽然只有81%,但还是占据第一宝座。录取率显示的是申请难度,而入学率显示了学生对学校的取舍态度。【关注下表中的名校哦】
