250 years ago, the Smokey Mountains were the western frontier of the United States. Visitors can still get the frontier experience at Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Visitors can hike across the Chimney Tops trail, which climbs 1,400 feet over 2 miles, or they can try the Rainbow falls. Visitors can travel around the park on foot or on bikes, but the more adventurous may want to try horseback riding on guided tours through the park.
