In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Beijing American Center will screen the documentary, “Code: Debugging the Gender Gap”. In this documentary, women and girls in computing science discuss the lack of diversity and gender equality in the industry and strategies to change this. CODE asks: what would society gain from having more women and people of color code, and how do we get there?
Following the screening, U.S. Embassy staff with decades of experience in the U.S. tech industry will join the audience for an interactive post-screening discussion.

In observation of World Water Day on March 22nd, the Beijing American Center will screen the documentary feature, “A Plastic Ocean”. Accompanied by scientists, conservationists and engineers, the film follows the journey of two explorers as they travel to some of the most remote parts of the world, documenting the environmental issues associated with plastic pollution and its impact on the environment, ecosystems and human health.
During its four-year production period, A Plastic Ocean was filmed in 20 locations around the world. The movie details the global effects of plastic pollution and introduces workable technology and policy solutions that can, if implemented in time, change things for the better. Following the screening, producer and film ambassador Jo Ruxton (Blue Planet, Pacific Abyss, and LIFE) and U.S. Embassy staff will join the audience for an interactive post-screening discussion.
This program is not suitable for children under 6.
