大多数美国暑期项目在5月和8月之间开展，地点不尽相同，一般持续两到十二周。在这短短的时间内，学生将有充分的机会提高他们的英语，了解美国文化，政治和习俗，并访问国家的不同地区。

Depending on student maturity students should attend 11th and 12th grade. I feel like by that time students are mature enough fully understand why this program is important. If the 10th grade student who wants to apply already has a high level of maturity then sure go for it. I think it is good to make sure the student understands the point of this program and why they need to work hard and do well in their classes.

As for when students should attend these summer programs, I recommended when they are older like junior or seniors mainly because at this point they should be mature enough to understand why this program is important and be able to get the most out of the program. Additionally, they are closer to going to college so this type of experience might seem more relevant to them. If they are younger they can still attend the programs, as long as the program is offered to them, but they need to have a high maturity level. When it comes to admission officers seeing students’ who have attended these summer programs, I don’t think it will make much of a difference for when they attend. When the student is older, like I said earlier, it could be that the experience is more salient in the students’ mind and the admission officer could also think that an older student will get more out of the program. If the student is younger it could show that the student has had a high level of maturity from a young age. I don’t think when the student attends these summer programs will have any negative effects on the student.
至于何时为参加项目的最佳时间，我的建议是当孩子的心智足够成熟时，当他们可以意识到这个项目的重要性，可以最大化利用这个项目。另外，当孩子们即将进入大学时，这些项目经历对他们来说更有益。如果孩子的年级较小，也可以参加，但前提是心智足够成熟。当招生官在审核孩子们的材料时，我觉得招生官应该不会特别介意孩子的年龄大小。一个年纪稍大的孩子，招生官会认为这个孩子足够成熟，并且可以最大化利用这个项目的价值。一个年纪较小的孩子，招生官会认为这个孩子虽然年纪小，但是心智很成熟，综上所述，我认为参加项目时间的早晚，对孩子来说没有负面影响。
