Anyone with phones can answer calls for both social and personal purposes at any time. Do you think this brings more benefits or drawbacks to both society and individuals?

Phones are an essential commodityin today’s modern world. These devices allow people to answer calls for any social or personal reason at any moment, which I believe provides more advantages than disadvantages to the society and its people.

Firstly, the greatest advantage of phones and its use of taking calls is that these provide a means to satisfy the basic human need of interaction with others. This allows people to stay connected with friends and family members across borders and continents. For example, students who enrol in study abroad programs can communicate with their parents and friends regularly with audio as well as video calls, and thus stay in constant touch, minimising their homesickness. Moreover, individuals are able to respond to emergency situations immediately with the help of phone calls and stay close to the people they care about during dire circumstances. Consequently, all individuals are able to stay interconnected with one another further resulting in a close-knit society. 

However, there may be some certain limitations related to this situation. The ease and convenience that phones allow in answering calls whenever creates some degree of distance among people, especially strangers. Increasing number of people are constantly involved with calls on their phones and do not indulge in conversations with the people around them. For instance, youngsters nowadays are always on the phone talking to their friends and do not participate in conversing within a social group outside of their friend circle, which may result in the younger generation to become anti-social. 

In conclusion, I opine that this new era of phones and their function of making and taking calls for diverse social and personal reasons anytime comprises more benefits than downsides to both society and individuals as these build a more unified community.
