2018年02月15日 剑桥考试语言辅导

Yesterday all the students of the ELC had an excursion in Knox Shopping Centre where they learnt about the names of many shops such as McDonald's, Hungry Jack's, JB-HiFi, Sushi Sushi, Vodafone, Telstra and some banks like Commonwealth Bank and ANZ bank.

One of the students, Carl, planned to deposit some money into his account at Commonwealth Bank. He spent some time learning how to use the ATM. Like other students, he is used to Chinese instruction because he feels comfortable using his own mother tongue. But, encouraged by his teacher, he started choosing English language to finish the whole process of depositing money. Congratulations, Carl ! Well done !!

Now, let's study some often-used instructive vocabulary. As we know, ATMs allow us to check the balance查询余额, withdraw or transfer money取钱或转钱. When the balance is not enough, we can deposit money 存钱 through the instructions displayed on the screen.

As shown in the picture above, first of all, we need to insert 插入 our bank card into the machine. And it is necessary to enter our PIN number or secret code. If your card is new, you may need to activate it 激活它 and set your PIN (personal identification number个人身份识别码). Please remember: never write down your PIN on the card, nor tell others.

Then, we are expected to choose what to do - bank customers can withdraw cash, make a deposit, or check balance and or transfer money to friends or business. As shown at the bottom, you can cancel 取消 any service and return 返还 your card. Besides, you can change your PIN at any time.

Usually we are given one or two accounts, such as Savings, Credit. You need to tell the machine from which account your money is withdrawn or which account the sum is deposited into , by choosing any of the accounts you have.

When you finish a service, you are asked to get a receipt 收据(字母p 不发音)or not. To save paper to protect our environment, we had better not 最好不 print any receipt. Instead read your balance or confirmation 确认 on the screen. You can set a common amount of withdrawal, then you'll be easier or faster to withdraw the amount to pay for your bills or cover regular spending.

最后,祝同学们新春佳节愉快!新年学习进步!
