SWT一直都是PTE考试的重中之重，但因为机经命中率比较高，考生往往忽略了练习的重要性，背一遍机经就去考试了。考试的时候如果纯靠回忆，很容易在高度紧张的时候忘记，而且一旦题目稍有变化将会不知所措，大大影响作文成绩。由于PTE的交叉打分机制，SWT一定程度上也决定着阅读分数的高低。
今天，Gary老师手把手教你怎么抓住文章主干，找到得分点。
通常的SWT我们会根据文章的分段来帮助梳理文章结构，那么当遇到没有分段的一长段文字我们要怎么进行有效的分段和总结呢？
我们分析一篇高频考题Sea turtles，并附上高分参考答案。
先上原文：
For millions of years, Mediterranean sea turtleshave been coming to the shore of southern Lebanon to lay their eggs. Everysummer, their babies hatch and literally run for their lives on the strip ofsand that separates their nests from the sea. An endangered species, they hadbeen largely ignored in this part of Lebanon until two women set out to protectthem.
Mona Khalil was inspired by a walk on the beachduring a visit to her homeland, when she first saw the turtles. Upon learningthat they were close to disappearing from her country, Khalil decided to"come back and do something about them."
The next year, 2000, she returned and teamed upwith Habiba Fayed, who shares her passion for the environment. They opened abed-and-breakfast in the Khalil family home to finance their efforts. Guestscould simply vacation or, in the spirit of ecotourism, they could help theowners protect the turtles' nests and keep the beach clean.
Female turtles travel to the exact spot where theywere born to dig their nests in the sand, laying an average of 70 to 100 eggs.This is the moment when the women intervene. They protect the nests frompredators by burying an iron grid in the sand above the eggs. The spaces on thegrid are large enough to allow the baby turtles to emerge after a month andfind their way to the sea…and to a chance at life.

注意文章中的mainpoint和supporting ideas。这题的main point：两位女性帮助地中海海龟， supporting ideas：如何帮助的细节（脑海中有类似的框架总能帮助你拿高分，因为官方的评分标准说 The best response summarizes all the main points and includes essentialsupporting ideas）
参考答案：Two women, one of whichwas inspired by beach strolling, protect Mediterranean Sea turtles in SouthernLebanon from diminishing by interfering in their hatching procedure in the wayof burying iron grid to protect eggs from predators; a little hotel was builtfor funding from customers so as to preserve he endangered species.

50分：Forthe millions of years the turtles were coming laying their eggs in summer and ,ignoring in war torn until two women set out to protect them and mona khalilsaw the turtles and decided to do something so in the end the baby turtle toemerge after a month.
解释：首先，这个答案虽然涵盖了一些重点，但是明显字里行间表现出了这位同学并未读懂，而只是简单的将原文的句子抄下来，抄袭的句子也是次重点，比如“the babies run seperates their nests”和“babyturtle to emerge after a month”。其次，文章中不乏简单的语法，拼写和标点错误错误，比如“were coming laying”，在很大程度的影响了电脑的理解（电脑在判断语法，句式错误是否致命时，主要看对理解文章意思的影响大不大）。
65分：Mediterranean sea turtles whichis an endangered species lay their 70 to 100 eggs at the shore of southernLebanon but now Mona Khalil with her team protecting turtle's egg from damegingor from pradators by buring iron grid in the sand above the nests.
解释：这个答案很好的总结了全文，并涵盖了supporting ideas，这是这个答案能上65分的原因。但是什么阻止了他拿更高的分数？
1. 介词的错误使用：“turtle's eggfrom dameging or from pradators”这句话的正确表达形式应该是“turtle'segg from damaging by predators”
2. 基础语法错误：“but now MonaKhalil with her team protecting turtle's egg ”这一句话中缺少be动词，正确的写法应该是“but now Mona Khalil with her team areprotecting turtle's egg”
3. 三个拼写错误：“dameging orfrom pradators by buring”
4. 理解上的错误：“Mona Khalilwith her team”，原文中虽然有用到teamed up with，但并不是一个team，这里表示和谁合作，所以简单把另外一个人的人名写出来即可。
5. 答案中的逻辑不通顺：在答案中断出现了“but”表转折，但在but前面却添加了一些和endangered species无关紧要的信息，“lay their 70 to 100 eggs at the shore of southern Lebanon”并不能说明地中海海龟是一种濒临动物，所以后面紧接着的but在逻辑层面上略有不妥。
79分：
After millions of years of being endangered inwar-torn coast of southern Lebanon, Mediterranean sea turtles were finallyprotected by two women, Mona Khalil and Habiba Fayed, who opened abed-and-breakfast and with the help of the guests, protected turtles’ eggs byburying an iron grid in the sand above the eggs.
解释：你可以从这一个response明显的看到65分和79分差距，一方面是更精确的拼写，语法，但更多的是对于文章的理解，你会发现读完这个答案之后，你可以不看原文就知道这篇文章在说什么。而且这个答案也没有用到复杂的词汇和句式，所以大家在写SWT的时候不必追求高阶的单词，把词汇用对才是王道。
