我眼中的美国：构建在美国的生活

从1979年2月我到洛杉矶读书、上大学，至今我眼中的美国是这样的:

美国文化由于其殖民的历史，深受英国文化的影响。其他对美国文化也产生影响的还有法国、德国、意大利和爱尔兰。两次世界大战及冷战时期出生的移民和其周边国家如加拿大和墨西哥，对美国文化的发展也扮演了关键的角色。

美国经济的自由度是世界最高的，国民生活水平相当好，国民购买力强大，购物中心大型连锁商店遍布全国，价格合理，服务便捷。

美式餐厅、小吃店和快餐店无处不在，但汉堡、热狗、意大利蛋糕和苏打水的热量太高，不健康。近年来，沙拉越来越受欢迎。最近二十年，美式中餐、日本寿司和越南粉已被主流社会所接受，著名的中餐馆“熊猫快餐”也遍布美国各地。

体育运动在美国是全民活动，得到了社会的支持和培训，各级学校高度重视各类体育运动的基础训练。父母也会陪同孩子参加训练和比赛。由于孩子们从小就进行训练，因此美国学校培养出许多体育人才，他们为美国在奥运会的个人或团体赛中夺得奖牌，并不断创造出新的世界纪录。

美国电影业在世界排名第一，吸引了几乎世界上所有最好的导演、演员、摄影师及电影从业者到好莱坞发展。每年的奥斯卡颁奖典礼是加利福尼亚州洛杉矶的一大重要活动，旨在奖励电影界所有优秀人才。到目前为止已经举办了89届。

我很荣幸有机会来到美国读书、工作并结婚。至今我己有两个可爱的女儿，她们两三年前从大学毕业，目前拥有令人羡慕的工作。我们一家亲身体验了这个健全的民主制度和高度自由的市场经济，在稳定的社会中安居乐业。这一切来之不易, 愿上帝保佑美利坚合众国！

What I’ve learned: Building a Life in the U.S. 

Since I went to Los Angeles to study in university in February 1979, this is what the United States is in my eyes:

American culture is deeply influenced by English culture because of its colonial history. Other countries leaving an impact on American culture include France, Germany, Italy and Ireland. Migrants born in the two world wars and the cold war periods, and the neighboring countries, such as Canada and Mexico, also played a key role in the development of American culture. 

The American economy has the highest degree of freedom in the world. The standard of living is quite good, and the purchasing power of the people is strong. Shopping malls and large chain stores are found all over the country, with reasonable prices and convenient services.

American style restaurants, snack bars and fast food restaurants are everywhere, but the hamburgers, hot dogs, Italy cakes and sodas contain too high calories to be healthy. In recent years, salad has become popular. In the last 20 years, Americanized Chinese food, Japanese sushi and Vietnamese pho have been accepted by the mainstream society. The famous Chinese food, Panda Fast Food, has also spread all over the United States. 

Sports is a national activity in the United States, with support and training from the society. Schools at all levels attach great importance to the basic training of all kinds of sports. Parents will also accompany their children in training and competitions. As children receive training since childhood, American schools have fostered many sports talents, who have won medals in individual or team events in Olympic Games for the United States, and constantly set new world records. 

The US film industry ranks first in the world. It has attracted almost all the world's best directors, actors, photographers and film practitioners to Hollywood for development. The annual Oscar awards ceremony is one of the most important events in California, Los Angeles, which aims to reward all outstanding talents in the film industry. It has been held for 89 sessions so far. 

I am honored to have the privilege of coming to America to study, work and get married. So far, I have two lovely daughters, who graduated from university two or three years ago, and have enviable jobs at present. Our family has personally experienced this sound democratic system and highly liberal market economy, and lived and worked in peace in a stable society. All this has not been easy. May God bless the United States of America!
